  2. About • Wheelchair Basketball is normal basketball that is played on wheelchair and is one of the major disabled sports played. The IWBF is the governing body.

  3. History • Wheelchair basketball was made by Ludwig Guttman in 1944 at the Stoke Mandeville Hospital in England. The games were mostly played by WW11 disabled veterans. The first world championships were held in 1973 in Belgium. It was won by Great Britain.

  4. Rules • Wheelchair basketball keeps most of the main rules and scoring of basketball, and keeps a 10-foot basketball hoop and standard basketball court. The exceptions are rules which have been modified with consideration for the wheelchair. E.g. travelling in wheelchair basketball is called when the athlete touches his wheels more than twice after receiving or dribbling the ball. The player must pass, bounce or shoot the ball before touching the wheels again.
