An Advanced Studies Diploma with a Gold Governor’s Seal In order for an Advanced Studies Diploma to include a Gold Governor’s Seal, the student must have taken at least one college course or AP course. It is possible that every Advanced Studies Diploma will include a Governor’s Seal because 3 hours of college credit may become required for the Advanced Diploma.

    8. Dual Enrollment Dual Enrollment at CHS is provided in two manners (on-site or on the college campus) Several business classes and Eng 111/112 are taught in house. Courses such as Precal I, Cal I, Cal II, and Western Civ I can be taken at UVa-Wise. Enrollment in dual enrollment will require a placement test, sufficient GPA, a satisfactory SAT/ACT score, and administrative permission.

    9. Math Science Initiative College classes in Mathematics and Science can be paid for by the county provided the student has a high GPA and demonstrates high levels of performance in the fields of math and science. This grant helps free parents of some of the burden with the rising cost of college tuition.
