Pollution damages the Earth's land, water and air. It results in contamination of the earth's environment with materials that interfere with human health, the quality of life, and the natural functioning of ecosystems (living organisms and their physical surroundings).<br>

WHAT IS POLLUTION? Pollution is contamination by a chemical or other agent that renders part of the environment unfit for intended or desired use. These uses also and very importantly include all wildlife and ecological requirements to sustain life in all its natural forms.
THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF POLLUTION Air Pollution Water Pollution Noise Pollution Land Pollution And many others!
Air Pollution Air pollution is the modification of the natural characteristics of the atmosphere by a chemical, particulate matter, or biological agent. The atmosphere is a complex, dynamic natural gaseous system that is essential to support life on planet Earth. Stratospheric ozone depletion due to air pollution has long been recognized as a threat to human health as well as to the Earth ecosystems.
Causes of Air Pollution • Indoors: poor ventilation, products in aerosol cans, cigarette smoke, paint. • Outdoor: Factories, automotive, smoking, littering, burning waste in backyards.
How to Reduce Air Pollution • Modify transportation (carpool, walk, ride a bike) • Conserve energy • Reduce waste • Don’t burn waste • Quit smoking • Plant trees • Avoid using toxic chemicals and aerosol cans.
Water Pollution Water pollution is a large set of adverse effects upon water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and ground water caused by human activities.
Causes of water Pollution • Throwing garbage into bodies of water • Throwing low batteries into bodies of water • The chemicals from factories that might flow to rivers.
How to Reduce Water Pollution • Maintain your vehicle from leaks • Minimize fertilizers and pesticides • Properly dispose of trash • Properly store chemicals
Noise Pollution Noise pollution or environmental noise is displeasing human or machine created sound that disrupts the activity or happiness of human or animal life.
Types of noise pollution • Traffic • Airports • Railroads • Manufacturing plants • Construction or demolition • Concerts
How to Reduce Noise Pollution • Use double paned windows. • Avoid loud noise areas. • Turn off TV. • Use “white noise” to cover unwanted sounds.
Waste Pollution • Waste or soil pollution is contamination of the soil that prevents natural growth and balance in the land whether it is used for cultivation, habitation, or a wildlife preserve. Some soil pollution, such as the creation of landfills, is deliberate, while much more is accidental and can have widespread effects.
Causes of Waste Pollution • Hazardous waste and sewage spills. • Non-sustainable farming practices, such as the heavy use of inorganic pesticides. • Strip mining, deforestation, and other destructive practices. • Household dumping and littering.
How to Reduce Waste Pollution • Don’t litter. • Reduce waste. • Recycle. • Don’t purchase products that come with a lot of disposable parts. • Properly dispose of toxic wastes.
Why is it bad? Pollution damages the Earths land, water, and air. This leads to a contamination of the Earths environment. When this happens pollution then interferes with human health, the quality of life, and the natural functioning of ecosystems. It is also said to be the cause of Global Warming
