Energy Flow in a Community Energy- the ability to do work. Work- anything that causes motion. Biological work- growing, developing, reproducing, maintaining homeostasis.
The SUN - Energy source • Producers- (Autotrophs) undergo photosynthesis. • Chlorophyll uses the energy of the sun to change water & carbon dioxide into oxygen & glucose (energy is stored in it’s bonds).
SUN – Energy source • Consumers- (Heterotrophs) Feed on producers, obtains glucose for CELLULAR RESPIRATION. • Glucose + oxygen > Carbon dioxide + ENERGY
