  5. Course Leveling Levels in regular education for 2008-09: • Level 5 (Eng, Social Studies, Math, Science) Reading/Study Skills is not a leveled course. • Level 6 (Eng, Social Studies, Math, Science) Honors High Potential

Specialized Programs • Gifted Education English, Social Studies & Science Reading Study/Skills is Gifted Seminar • Special Education (levels 1, 2, 3) Resource time during lunch study Mainstream, Direct Instruction, Co-Teaching • Intensive Reading and Intensive Math For students who scored basic or below basic in PSSA Reading and in Math. Both classes are 8 periods

  7. Course Leveling Explanation To Assist with reading the Verification Sheets / Schedule • 0075- The first digit denotes the subject • 0175- The second denotes the team • Team not determined until the summer • 0075- The third denotes your grade • 0075- The fourth denotes your level

Math testing • Algebra Prognosis tests are part of the process that identifies students who are ready to accelerate in North Penn’s math curriculum through the study of Algebra I in 7th grade – a two year advancement. • This test is also used by 6th grade math teachers to help recommend appropriate math placement for 7th grade.

Course Selection Timeline • February 13-22 - 6th Grade Teachers make Recommendations and Send them to Pennbrook • March 28- 6.0/HP level decisions by parents are returned to Pennbrook • April 17 – Verification Sheets will be sent home with 6th grade students • April 30– Only Verification Sheets with changes should be sent back to Pennbrook • May 27– 6th Grade Students visit Pennbrook with their elementary school during the school day • June 30 – Deadline for course request changes • Late August – Schedules are mailed • End of August- Orientation at PB 8-10:30 am
