Sources of Fiber • Leafy greens • Grains - • Seeds • Popcorn • Bread – oats, whole grains, whole wheat • Apples (peel)
Soluble Fiber • Dissolves in water • Attract water and form a gel which slows digestion = makes you feel full longer • Helps lower cholesterol by interfering with absorption • Sources: oatmeal, oats, lentils, apples, oranges, pears, bran, strawberries, nuts, flaxseed, beans, dried peas, blueberries, psyllium, cucumbers, celery and carrots
