  1. The Stoop Effect Our results

  2. The stroop effect states that a given persons reaction time to reading a word with a different color will be faster than saying what color of the font is.

  3. Example • The average person will read the word “purple” faster than a person will tell the color font of the word “red”

  4. Materials • For our experiment, we made a PowerPoint Presentation With words like the example in the last slide, seeing if people read the word, or said the text color faster.

  5. One at a time, we tested a total of 15 people. They read 6 slides, each with a different colored word. Then on the second half (also 6 slides) they had to tell the color of the text.

  6. The results were clear, all 15 of the subjects were much faster reading than they were at identifying the color. This strongly supports the stroop effect in that the reaction time for reading colors is a lot faster than the reaction time for identifying the color of the text.
