  4. We gotta GO there! • Well it’s not exactly a trip to Alton Towers, is it? So let’s use the spreadsheet and find out how long it will take to reach your chosen planet... • Umm – how OLD will you be when you get there???

  5. We gotta GO there! • OK – so that isn’t necessarily the best idea. How about if we try to get there in a year – how fast would we have to go?

  6. Who’s already been there? • Lots of people have already ‘boldly gone’ and we need to learn from their experiences in space, same as we learn in the rest of our life. • But some become heroes.

  7. Collectors’ Cards • You’ve seen these – you can collect a load of them to make a pack... All images from www.londoncigcard.co.uk

  8. There are a few space heroes to choose from... • Vladimir Komarov • AlekseiLeonov • Jim Lovell • Franco Malerba • Bruce McCandless II • Abdul Ahad Mohmand • Ellen Ochoa • Pham Tuan • Marcos Pontes • Ilan Ramon • Thomas Reiter • Vladimir Remek • Sally Ride • Svetlana Savitskaya • Yuri Shargin • Alan Shepard • Yang Liwei • ZhaiZhigang • Joseph M. 9. All of those folks were ‘firsts’ in the Space Programme.

  10. So you each need to pick a hero • And you might just need a few minutes to do that! • Then as a group you have some decisions to make for the collector’s cards you will create...

  11. Decisions, decisions... • Who will collect them? • How will they collect them – by subscription, in a magazine, buy a pack in one go...? • What size will your cards be? • What layout will you use? • Where will you put pictures? • Will they be in colour or b/w? • What information will you include – it has to be standard on them all!

  12. Under pressure...! • Uh, yeah... Forgot to mention you have only 3 hours to get this done in full... • Oops, sorry about that...!
