Student Health Services • Provides primary care to all enrolled students • OU student insurance is not required to utilize the health center • Primary Medical care • Minor Surgical Procedures • Imaging • Laboratory • Allergy Injections & Immunizations • Pharmacy • GYN Clinic • Physical Therapy • Psychiatry

  4. Student Health Service Operating Hours Monday & Tuesday 8am-7pm Wednesday & Friday 8am-5pm Thursday 9am-5pm Sunday 1pm-5pm No patients will be checked in a ½ hour prior to closing. Summer and Holiday breaks hours will vary and no weekend or extended hours.

  5. Health History Form • Form must be completed and returned to Hudson Health Center prior to being seen. This form initiates your medical record. • Actual dates of immunizations are needed. • Add notes from your physician if needed. • Attach a copy (front & back) of your current insurance card.

  6. Immunizations • None are required at this time. (New State law, July 1, 2010, Hepatitis B and Meningitis immunization will be required for any student living in a residence hall.) • Meningitis and Hepatitis B are strongly recommended. • Immunizations are available at Hudson by appointment.

  7. Fees and Charges • There are charges for medical services provided through the Student Health Service. We will bill the student ‘s medical insurance company for them. Each time they visit we ask for their updated insurance information. • Each quarter your student bill will include the $40 WellBeing Plan. This fee works with you medical insurance and is considered pre-payment of your office co-pay and/or co-insurance payment. • You will not need cash at Hudson. Charges for pharmacy and any co-pays or co-insurance will be charged to your student ‘s account. SHS will bill your insurance for provider visits, lab, and x-ray. We do not bill insurance companies for pharmacy.

Current enhancements supported by the WellBeing Fee include: • 24/7 Crisis Intervention Service • Expanded Hours of Service • Evening hours on Monday and Tuesday • Weekend hours on Sunday • Appointments and Walk-in Service • Medical Insurance Billing • Additional Medical Provider • Additional Psychologist Hours • Future enhancements supported by the WellBeing Fee include: • Full Time Psychiatrist • Women’s Health Clinic • Case Manager for follow-up with students referred to the Student Review and Consultation Committee • Online Appointment Scheduling • Complete Electronic Health Record

  9. Remember… • Confidentiality • Emergency Care • A copy of your health insurance card and information about any special requirements for students covered by HMO, PPO, etc.

Counseling and Psychological Services • Educational Counseling • Study habits, panic about exams, discouragement about academic progress • Career Counseling • Explore personal needs, interests and aptitudes. • Personal Adjustment Counseling • Personal worries, depression, lack of confidence, fears, unsatisfactory relationships.

Eligibility • Domestic students taking 7 or more credit hours on the Athens Campus • International students taking 1 or more credit hours on the Athens Campus • Special category options available for special circumstances (i.e. grad students, co-ops, internships, visiting scholars, J1 Visa etc.)

Spec. (7/26-8/31/10) NA Bursar must receive e-bill or hard waivers prior to deadline waiver dates.

  15. Student Health Center Referrals Students must always go to Student Health Service for care if: • Student Health Service is open • It’s NOT an emergency (Not sure if its an emergency? Call My Nurse Line at (800-883-2951) • The student is within 50 miles of Student Health Service

More About Referrals • Referrals are made for a specific illness or injury and not by provider ($75 deductible/$20 co-pay) • When seen outside Hudson in a medical emergency, students are to return to Student Health Service for follow-up care and further referral if needed • Referrals are good for that policy year only • If you are seen at Hudson Health Center and receive a referral from one of the providers an insurance referral will be done on line.

  17. What to do when you present for medical care outside of Hudson Health Center • Choose a network provider for maximum reimbursement (United Health Care) • Show your insurance card to the provider and pay your co-payment • Fill out a student medical insurance referral form completely. Indicate the reason for not going to Hudson. Claim forms are available at Hudson Health or on the insurance website at www.uhcsr.com/college/viewbrochures.aspx

  19. Pharmacy Benefits • Sickness & Injury prescriptions filled outside of Hudson Health have co-pays: Tier I ($10) or Tier II ($25) Show your insurance card • Prescriptions filled at Hudson Health are 100% reimbursement
