Kelechi Okereke Interest in Emerging Markets During his senior year as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, Kelechi Okereke earned an offer to work in investment banking at Citigroup. He had a year before the job began, so he moved to Lagos, Nigeria, where his parents were born and raised, to learn about the Nigerian Stock Exchange and a taste of business in West Africa at the highest level. Today, he is working towards a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Pennsylvania.

  2. Kelechi Okereke What is Private Equity? Kelechi Okereke is a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He is already an experienced investor well-versed in advising large clients on mergers and acquisitions, large investment transactions involving international companies, and navigating the stock market for investors. Okereke has worked for Citigroup in the Investment Banking division, helping clients find the best foreign investments in emerging markets around the world. He has also worked at the Nigerian Stock Exchange and interned for the Abraaj Group in Dubai. He has worked with many private equity investors during his young career.

Okereke has worked in Lagos, Nigeria at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, London as a founding member of the Citigroup Africa M&A team, and New York, where he worked directly under the head of Citigroup’s global investment bank. Kelechi Okereke worked at Citigroup for six years before starting graduate school. He believes that his improved education in business will give him the tools he needs to lead investors to developing economies in Africa and elsewhere around the world.

Kelechi Okereke Senior Management Experience Kelechi Okereke spent a year working directly under the head of the investment bank of Citigroup, where he learned how global investment banks are run and assisted in dealing with some of the day-to-day challenges that most senior managers encounter when running investment banks. Some of the projects Okereke worked on involved talent management and the restructuring of business lines to utilize capital more efficiently.
