Certification Tool Set Parameters (e.g. A/C information) Radar simulation provides I&Q Spatial atmospheric dataset Processing by detection algorithm Predicted A/C loads Calculate A/C loads truth dataset A/C loads truth set Comparison, grading, and evaluation of the detection algorithm performance

  4. ADWRS Purpose To provide a comprehensive calculation of the signal characteristics and expected outputs of an airborne, coherent, pulsed Doppler radar system.

  5. Calculates I & Q signal components from data files: Wind velocity components TKE file (if used) Radar reflectivity of moisture Discrete target file (if used) ADWRS Capabilities

  6. Simulates: Three antenna classes- (2 measured, 1 theoretical) Antenna side lobe effects Ground clutter Ground clutter filters Transmitter/Receiver phase errors Quantization errors User-selected antenna scanning strategies User-selected aircraft trajectories ADWRS Capabilities (cont)

  7. Current Signal Processing: Ground clutter filtering Automatic gain control Calculation of Doppler velocity, spectral width, shear hazard, and other radar and data set parameters of interest ADWRS Capabilities (cont)

  8. ADWRS Verification • ADWRS 3.0 was verified against clutter maps • ADWRS 4.0 was verified by comparison to atmospheric data sets • ADWRS 5.0 has been verified by comparison to 4.0 and comparison to atmospheric datasets
