History of Foundation and Alumni Association 2005 – School Board and Superintendent brought community leaders together to form Foundation One expectation in forming Foundation – to RE-form Alumni Association, utilizing Foundation’s 501(c)(3) and providing seed money for Alumni Association Challenges/Concerns in community – Fundraising efforts at risk?

Functions of Foundation Raise funds to assist CURRENT students Raise funds to provide classroom (small) grants to teachers for innovative projects Raise funds to provide school-wide (major) grants for innovation Provide recognition for teachers (grants, Carnation sales, publicity, business partnerships)

Functions of Alumni Association Provide organization to keeping alums tied to school, classmates, friends Reunion communication Communication of events and alum happenings Recognition – Alumni of the Year/Alumni Brick Walkway Repository – Heritage Room at High School Develop/maintain data base of alumni contact information Senior Breakfast

  5. What are Challenges? Relationships Purposes that do not align Perceived competition Sensitivity to use of Alumni data base Sensitivity to Business Contact listing

Organizational Alignment Through Foundation Bylaws, Alumni Association allowed to utilize 501(c)(3) Separate Bylaws, separate Boards Alumni President serves as Ex-Officio Foundation Board member Foundation Chair serves as Ex-Officio Alumni Association Board member School Board President serves as Ex-Officio Foundation Board member
