This study explores the diverse uses and benefits of tanks in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to identify both direct and indirect advantages for local communities. It emphasizes the importance of involving various stakeholders to improve future operations and maintenance of the tanks through Water User Associations (WUA). The research quantifies benefits derived from agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and secondary income sources over three years. A participatory planning and management approach is proposed to ensure sustainable tank-based livelihoods and encourage inter-sectoral collaboration.
