  1. A Little About Me In order for people to understand my “Digital Literacy Experience” I feel they have to know a little about me. First I think it is important to know that I was born in 1984. So I was there when everything slowly became “digitalized” to the world we have now. So my experience is quite extensive, so I chose 6 things on the internet that I use on a daily basis and is significant for me in this “digitalized” world, and to which literacy applies.

  2. Library vs Google Search Engine www.google.com YOU WIN! tribwekchron.com I used to hate doing research. It was mostly because of the fact that I had to drag myself to a library to access information and then I had to spend time trying to locate the information I was looking for. Which ended in the result of me not caring or wanting to do research. But Google Search made this such a simple task. Now I find myself “Googling” everything or anything that I find interesting.

  3. Mail vs E-mail https://mail.google.com OWNED! earth911.com Communication with relatives who lived in a different country was simply costly and time consuming. So eventually the only time I would write to them were on their birthday or holidays. E-mail changed and solved my problems. Now I write on a regular basis which helped create a stronger bond with my relatives.

  4. Yellow Pages vs Yelp http://www.flickr.com/photos/recyclethis/186838960/ RECYCLE IT! www.yelp.com OR BURN IT… Searching and finding companies providing the service you needed was not an easy task. I would just choose the company that had the largest ad and the lowest price to perform the task. But it usually ended in disappointment. But using Yelp I am able to read reviews and peoples opinion on the company before I commit.

  5. Newspaper vs SF Gate richardsona.squarespace.com www.sfgate.com WINNER!!! Even though I am not really a fan of reading books, I do read a lot of news articles. But I hated the newspaper. First, was the fact that the pages are abnormally huge. Second, in order to read a whole article you need to locate the rest of it on a different page. Third, since the newspaper is printed in advance it is old news. So now that it is available on the internet I read a lot more and more frequesntly.

  6. Telephone vs Facebook #1 www.facebook.com bullybloggers.wordpress.com Before the most convenient way of keeping in touch with friends were through a phone call. Now I use Facebook. I am able to chat, share information, plan events, and interact with numerous friends on a daily basis.

  7. Paper Pencil vsiLearn dannisaur.wordpress.com https://ilearn.sfsu.edu/login/index.php DEFINITELY! School work definitely became more manageable after it went interactive using the internet. It is a lot easier to complete and keep track of assignments. Plus now we are able to interact with other students and communicate with your instructor / professor and ask questions. Also now we have the convenience of accessing past assignments.
