Introduction • For a PC Controlled DCN system one Comport is needed for direct connection with the CCU. • If the card encoder and/or label printer are used we need even more than one comport. • On the other hand more and more PC’s and Laptops are provided without comports or with only one comport these days. • By use of a USB to Serial Converter we can still use these PC’s as a Control PC for DCN!!   4. Requirements • Central Control Unit LBB3500/15 or /35 • DCN software V9.00 or higher • Windows 98, 2000 or XP • Available USB port on PC • USB Serial Converter (including Driver Software) Direct-Connection-USB en

  5. Step 1 Connect USB to Serial Converter to the USB port of the PC or Laptop Direct-Connection-USB en

  6. Step 2 Install driver software • The USB Serial Converter contains driver software. The PC needs the driver software to communicate with the USB Serial Converter Direct-Connection-USB en

  7. Step 3 Check Device Manager • The USB to Serial Converter will always take an available COM port number. • In Device Manager you can see which comport number is assigned to the USB to Serial Converter.(COM5 in the example) Direct-Connection-USB en

Step 4 Install DCN software LBB3590 • Change the Comport number to the number that is mentioned in the device manager.(see previous slide). • After this save and close the DCN.ini file. • The DCN.ini file is located in the Windows (or Winnt) directory on the harddisk.
