  1. Considering Prahran Yoga? Avoid These Common Beginner Fails If you’re planning your first visit to a Yoga studio Prahran, beginners may feel a little daunted. Being new in a class is nerve wracking for anyone, but you can boost your confidence by avoiding these common beginner fails in your Prahran yoga class. Keeping Your Shoes On While a good pair of trainers is vital for most exercise classes, this is not the case in yoga. Most Prahran yoga studios have a strict “no shoes” rule. You’ll have your feet, hands and entire body on and off your yoga mat throughout the class and you won’t want to bring the bits of the street on to your mat. If you’re worried about going barefoot, look for yoga socks, which offer grip without breaking the no shoes rule. Not Switching Your Phone Off Just like at the cinema, if your entire class is in the moment, you’re going to feel mortified if you start to hear a familiar ringtone. There will be a shuffle of shame as everyone’s feeling of zen is lost, and you need to dig around in your bag to shut off that blaring ringtone. Save yourself this trauma and turn your phone off or better yet, leave your phone at home or in your car. Letting Everything Hang Out While baggy clothing may make you feel more comfortable initially, the twists, inversions, straddles and standing forward folds can create problems with this choice of clothing. Although it may seem counterintuitive, tighter clothes will be more discreet than loose items. A tighter outfit will eliminate the gapping, falling or slipping that will put more on display than you want. Just remember that some yoga pants can go a little translucent, so make sure you check carefully before you buy. Losing Track of Your Space

  2. Yoga classes can be very popular, so students may be packed into the space. This means that you’ll need to remain aware of your personal space as you flow into new poses. You don’t want to smack or get smacked while you’re feeling zen. Remember that you’re in close quarters, so you’ll need to be thoughtful and keep track of your personal space. The last thing you’ll want to do is fall onto someone else’s mat or body, creating a domino effect throughout the whole class; it won’t be pretty, and you’ll end up feeling really embarrassed. Making Comparisons It is very easy to walk into a yoga studio and feel overwhelmed by the abilities of others in the class. Making comparisons are not likely to boost your confidence as a beginner, as others may have perfected their form or are tackling more advanced poses. Instead of comparing and feeling bad, try to take inspiration from others around you. If you’re thinking about visiting a yoga studio, Prahran based Kaya Health is here to help. We offer Prahran yoga and other wellness classes throughout the area. You’ll also find the Kaya Health team ready to answer any queries to help you choose the right class for you to feel completely comfortable.
