  2. Biography • R. Alec Mackenzie is president of his own firm of management consultants • A graduate of West Point • a lawyer • The President Association • The Erickson Foundation that was founded in 1974 • and the Health Insurance Association of America

  3. Introduction • Drawing on his years of studying people habit and nature in their natural status or under pressure, Mackenzie was able to come up with solutions. • Time is a unique resource. Although everybody has exactly the same amount of it. • There are those great few leaders that get a huge amount of work done every single day and still have dome free time.

  4. A Unique Resource • People argue on whether Money or Time is the most valuable asset a company has. • Time is precious. It can’t be expanded or replaced. • The editor of the Business Week agree with Jones’s Curtis Jones conviction that time-not-money is a company’s most critical resource (Mackenzie, 1975).

Tagging Time Wasters and Their Causes • We always think that different people would have different time problems due to the fact that we don’t share similar situation. • People argue that those with higher ranking in work have less time. • Mackenzie explains that we all share the same time problems, no matter where and what is our job status.

Ex: Phone calls, visitor, meetings…etc • Mackenzie argues that there are internal factors that also cause these issues of time, and often people does not recognize them • it takes courage and willingness to change that and admit what is wrong with us and change these factors

  8. Planning Time saves Time • planning is against the human nature. We human’s enjoy being free, and enjoy the fact that we do what ever we want at any given time, without restrictions or issues. • Investing time to save time is not the easiest concept to get across • A company that dedicates more time to plan usually gets the job done faster.
