  2. Goal • Given a table of data, find an equation of the line in the y=mx+b form.

  3. Step 1 Write original equation: y=mx+b

  4. Step 2 • Find the slope. Pick two points and plug them into .

  5. Step 3 • Plug the slope in for m into y=mx+b

  6. Step 4 • Check to see if x=0 is a point. If so, that y-value is the y intercept. Plug that number in for b.

  7. Step 5 • Of x=0 is NOT a point, then we must find b. Pick any point from the list and plug it in for x and y. Then solve for b. • Plug b into final equation.
