In 2009: • Ten-year cycle with accreditation site visit at Year 10 • Intensive preparation of a comprehensive institutional Self-Study and a room full of documentary evidence (in hard copy), compiled by multiple working groups, faculty committees, and administrative support staff during Years 8.5-9.5 • Receptions, team of 12-15 reviewers, meetings on Mon/Tues/Wed • Beginning in 2013: • “Pathways” based on the institution’s accreditation history – Open Pathway • Ten-year cycle, with Annual Updates of institutional data and routine organizational changes • Year 10 Site Visit - Assurance Argument review (5 core criteria), Federal Compliance review, Mon/Tues only • Quality Initiative during Years 6-9, Assurance Argument review again in Year 4 • Online Portal, no paper, no evidence room, no receptions, 7-8 members on review team

  4. 5 Criteria, 21 core components Cr1 - Mission The institution’s mission is clear and articulated publicly; it guides the institution’s operations. (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D) Cr2 - Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct The institution acts with integrity; its conduct is ethical and responsible. (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E) Cr3 - Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources, and Support The institution provides high quality education, wherever and however its offerings are delivered. (3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E) Cr 4 - Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement The institution demonstrates responsibility for the quality of its educational programs, learning environments, and support services, and it evaluates their effectiveness for student learning through processes designed to promote continuous improvement. (4A, 4B, 4C) Cr5 - Resources, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness The institution’s resources, structures, and processes are sufficient to fulfill its mission, improve the quality of its educational offerings, and respond to future challenges and opportunities. The institution plans for the future. (5A, 5B, 5C, 5D)

HLC Accreditation Project Timeline Summer 2016 – Core Team convened; Federal Compliance Team convened January 2017 – HLC Advisory Team convened Spring 2018 – Submission of Quality Initiative (REACH) Report; drafts of subcomponents reviewed by HLC Advisory Team Summer/early Fall 2018 – Preparation of full Assurance Argument draft; Appointment of HLC review team October 15, 2018 – Final drafts of Assurance Argument to be complete November-December 2018 – Check-ins with Leadership Groups Final review and editing of Assurance Argument, Federal Compliance December 21, 2018 – Assurance Argument complete, Federal Compliance complete January 2 - 25, 2019 – Edit text, check and update evidence, write the Introduction, Third Party Comment, Run a series of prep sessions for Criteria Sessions January 25, 2019 – Document submission “Lock Date”; field the Student Opinion Survey February, March 2019 - Syllabus request for Credit Hour Review, additional documents and evidence March 25-26, 2019 – HLC Review Team site visit July 2019 – Official notice of outcome from HLC

Key Features of the March 24-27 Review Team Site Visit TEAM CHAIR WILL SET SCHEDULE IN MARCH Sun Mar 24 Afternoon arrival; staying at Union South; Team has evening working meeting Mon Mar 25 ~8-8:15am Chancellor mtg with HLC Review Team Chair ~8:15-9am Chancellor, Provost, Vice Chancellors, Core Team meet with HLC Team Rest of day - Meetings on Criteria, open sessions, topics of interest to the team Lunch with Board of Regent members ~5pm End of day Chancellor mtg with the Team Chair Tues Mar 26 Meetings on Criteria, open sessions, topics of interest to the team May include breakfast with deans, session with faculty governance leadership ~12:30pm Exit meeting with HLC Reviewers – Chancellor, Provost, Core Team, other leaders >1pm – HLC Review team stays on campus but is working at Union South Wed Mar 27 HLC Review team still on campus; works at Union South; finishes report draft Departs by noon Topics of interest – may include governance -- Cr 1, 2, 5
