Linkages – What? • Groundwater Monitoring Committees (GMCs) & Hydrological Unit Networks (HUNs) are broadly linked with 3 agencies • With Government departments • With Peoples elected representatives • With Marketing agencies • Farmer-officers workshops conducted • Exposure visits & interface meetings organized

  6. Why with Government departments? • To mobilize programs related to water & agriculture like: • Subsidized water saving devices (drip, sprinklers etc.) • Rotary weeders • Subsidized wormy-compost units • Subsided seeds and fertilizers • Horticulture development programs

  7. Why with peoples representatives? • Influence the local government to avail subsided benefits • Influence the water policies in favor of groundwater users • Inclusion of new schemes at HU level and basin level • Mobilize various schemes related to water & agriculture

  8. Why with marketing agencies? • Assured marketing facilities for member farmer produces • Bargaining for better prices • Branding as water saved produces • Strengthen unity among groundwater user farmers • Creating common fund to take forward demand side management of Groundwater • For sustainability of PHM activities

  9. Mobilizing funds – How? • Funds needed for replication and sustainability of PHM concept • Tapping programs from local government • Mobilizing funds/resources from State & National governments • Mobilize funds & support from bilateral & multilateral agencies • Mobilize funds & support from International development / donor agencies

  10. Up-scaling • Skills & capacities of existing peoples networks on demand side management of groundwater • Replicate/disseminate PHM concept to other draught prone areas of the state • Replicate PHM concept to other states of the country • Extend technical support to other countries of the globe on request
