  1. Health Habits: Take Another Look At Your Carbs A Low-Carb Nutritional Approach Is not merely A "Fad Diet" Found in the past, Dr. Robert C. Atkins researched and documented a cohesive dietary approach depending on the scientific research of minimizing carbohydrates, especially the "bad carbs" this individual saw making his patients (and America) too fats. Following his death, after controversial lawsuits against his company, his approach was disparaged as a "fad diet" that was useless (at best) and possibly dangerous (at worst). Even so, you have to know Dr. Atkins' widow disputed that his diet caused his demise; and some well-publicized plaintiffs who cried foul about the approach were shown to be chowing-down on such sugary treats as cheesecake, which are strictly disallowed on the Atkins way. There was other tag-along strategies, especially the "South Seaside Diet, " which also gained both popularity and notoriety. However, no person has ever disproved Atkins' original research. If you have not tried an important low-carb procedure, it might be well worth another look. The profit of the approach is that you will get to have proteins, and plenty than it. Meal, chicken, fish (highly recommended), eggs, cheese... each one is OK in smaller or greater portions at various stages of the sequentially-stepped Atkins program. Although in case you don't follow the Atkins steps, the overall approach still works. Body fat is also OK... and it turns out there are excellent fats and bad fats (some SERIOUSLY bad fats). Don't eat any trans fats, at any time. But consuming good extra fat, such as oils, brings a variety of health advantages from lower blood content of "bad" LDL bad cholesterol ("low-density lipoproteins"), high content of "good" HDL lipid disorders, and better cleansing of the digestive system in general. As it happens some fats are GREAT for your heart!

Negative carbs - especially refined sugar - are to be avoided altogether. Actually fruit should be tightly controlled; berries provide excellent anti-oxidants, but other fruits is not worth the trade-off between sugar content and available nutrients. Atkins diet also believed in supplements. He knew you didn't want to get what your body needs from a typical Western diet, and recommended good, high-quality vitamin and mineral supplements.
