  1. Kingdom people Valuesheadship of Jesus Christ

  2. Something we hold dear Any object or quality desirable as a means or as an end in itself Something with worth or importance Values

  3. Are Values Doctrines? Some values are derived from the Fundamental Doctrines of the Church – The Word, God (incl. Trinity), Man, Christ and the Holy Spirit, Redemption, The Church, The Future Some values are derived from Apostolic input, Prophetic Words and the Conviction of the Holy Spirit Values

  4. Some of these values can become doctrines in certain circumstances All denominations have differences, born out of a value that has become a doctrine to them Some are correct and some are not – all are reflections of their individual interpretation of the Word of God Values

  5. 1529 Luther and Zwingli argued about what Jesus meant by “this is my body” Luther was adamant that it was literal Zwingli insisted is was symbolic They never agreed and it made them different ValueS

  6. Another fundamental difference between some denominations is the relationship between God and Man and the role of Christ Man for centuries is drawn to the need of a mediator Man has placed someone else between them and God, could be a priest, could be a saint ValueS

  7. Deut 5:23-27 27 Go near and hear all that the Lord our God will say and speak to us all that the Lord our God will speak to you, and we will hear and do it.' ESV Thus the need for a Pope or a Prophet or an Apostle or a Man of God Man feels unworthy Mediation

  8. 1 Tim 2:5-6 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. ESV Mediation

  9. Heb 4:14-5:3 14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Mediation

  10. Heb 4:14-5:3 1 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. 3 Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. ESV Mediation

  11. In 1870 the Catholic Church issued a decree called “The Dogma of Papal Infallibility” Essentially this means that in circumstances regarding doctrine, the Pope cannot be wrong – this is very dangerous Vapostori started for a group of people who could not read, or were uneducated…. Now many are nor permitted to read their Bibles and can only hear from the prophet In 1978 in Guyana a religious leader named Jim Jones and his 918 followers committed suicide because he was right and he was their leader error

  12. Another church leader is quoted as saying: “I am the head of this church, and as the head, I contain four out of the five senses. I see for you, I hear for you, I smell for you, I taste for you…. Everything outside of the head is the body, and all the body can do is feel, and that is the lowest of the senses”. The Mormon’s believe in the writing of Joseph Smith who received the words of God on gold tablets…. Which have never been seen by anyone else. William Branham, greatly used of God, began to believe that he was Jesus come back to earth… and taught this error

  13. Any Truth taken to an Extreme can become ERROR Prosperity Baptism in the Holy Spirit error

  14. In order to prevent ourselves from falling into error, we need to keep our focus on Jesus Heb 12:1-2 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. ESV Keep ourselves in check

  16. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. He is part of a Triune Godhead with the Father and the Holy Spirit, where there is Unity in Diversity as one God in three personalities. The Father is Supreme over all things, creator of Heaven and Earth and sustainer of all things. headship of Jesus Christ

  17. The Holy Spirit is the agent of ministry between God and Man. We recognise and embrace the roles of the parts of the Trinity and recognise that no man can assume headship of the local church without submission to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and sensitivity to God through the Holy Spirit. headship of Jesus Christ

  18. Col 1:15-20 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together headship of Jesus Christ

  19. Col 1:15-20 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. ESV headship of Jesus Christ

  20. Eph 5:22-24 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Saviour. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. ESV headship of Jesus Christ

  21. 1 Cor 11:3-4 3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. ESV headship of Jesus Christ

  22. Does this mean that we disregard the rest of the Trinity? No! You cannot pick and chose! Jesus Christ is without doubt in unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit headship of Jesus Christ

  23. So do we believe in the statements made in the Apostles and Nicene Creed? Yes, we believe in God the Father, maker of Heaven and Earth We believe that Jesus was His only Son, who was born of a Virgin, suffered and died on the Cross at the hands of Pontius Pilate He died and was buried, went to hell and rose on the third day, ascended to Heaven and sits forever at the right hand of the Father mediating for us Headship of jesus

  24. We believe in the Holy Spirit who ministers to us and teaches us and leads and guides us We believe Jesus will come again We believe He forgives sins We believe He is the Head of the Church and the fivefold ministry is His delegated authority to lead others to relationship with Him and are accountable for that authority WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ANY ONE MAN CAN CLAIM TO HAVE ANY SPECIAL AUTHORITY OR POSITION THAT PLACES HIM BETWEEN MAN AND GOD OR THAT ANY MAN SHOULD BE ELEVATED TO THAT SORT OF POSITION Headship of jesus

  25. We believe that every believer is responsible for his/her own relationship with God, but need teaching and pastoring in order to achieve that. On Judgement day we will be asked what we did in regard to the person and Lordship of Jesus Christ. (John 14:6) WE WILL NOT BE ASKED HOW WELL WE FOLLOWED THE TEACHINGS AND COMMANDMENTS OF A MAN OF GOD Headship of jesus
