  3. Strategic Planning Options (Case of IP/BB) • No Explicit Plans (Mostly) • Partial Plans (Some) • Scope • Methodology (with Objectives, KPIs, Goals & Targets leading to Initiatives) • Complete National Plans (Very Few) • Regional Plans (Limited and needs updated)

  4. Reasons behind this limitation • Few have a dedicated strategic planning team. • Regional Diversity is quite clear in Market, Policy &Technology. • Regional Cooperation is Limited. (GCC is an exception).

  5. What we concluded from benchmarking yesterday? Components Need Attention: • IXP • Content • Sites Registration • Fiber/Wifi/xDSL • Support (e-Payment, search engines).

  6. Our Strongest Asset Same Language of Over 300 Million People (A very rare situation, need to be utilized)

  7. ICT Industry Main Players The Market is fragmented especially at the regional level. Limited policy coordination. No private company is located Pan Arab. This is detrimental especially in the content , where the language and culture is common and can make a big difference. Note the satellite channels. Most of the revenues goes to international companies from domain name registration to hosting to advertisements to transactions.

  8. What we may do? • Do nothingdifferently? Continue what we are doing more or less. Stagnation>>Tsunami is coming. Advise: Ride the wave. • Develop our national capabilities. • Look at our assets and get a regional integration.

  10. What we really have • 350 + Millions Speak the same Language. • So issue of Content is more feasible. • A market of about 3 Trillion USD. • Common Sectors: • Culture / Entertainment / Education • Health / Tourism
