  2. Why is lent 40 days long? The number 40 is significant to the old testament. It rained for 40 days when Noah was in the ark. (genesis 7:12) Moses was on mount Sinai for 40 days receiving the ten commandments. The Israelites wandered around the desert for 40 years. Forty weeks because that is how long a woman carries her developing baby in the womb before giving birth

  3. What happens within these forty days? *What happens within these forty days many bad habits and addictions can be broken. *Jesus also fasted for forty days *Jesus was also seen on earth forty days after his crucifixion.
