  2. Columbus was born in Genoa, Liguria in Northern Italy. He was born in the year of 1451 and died May 20th, 1506. His religion is Roman Catholic. In Italy they called him Christoforo Colombo. His dad was a weaver, and Columbus was expected to be one but he wanted to be a sailor. So, when he was fourteen, he was hired as a cabin boy and took short trips to the Mediterranean Sea. By the time Columbus was thirty years old, he became a captain. He had 2 sons named Fernando and Diego. His wife’s name was Felipa Moniz. Columbus sailed off aboard the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria on the night of August 3rd, 1492. He was given the ships and eighty-eight men that were actually people from the nearby jail, which Columbus was not happy with but made the best of it. Around 2:00 A.M. of the morning October 10th, 1492 the sailors demanded Columbus to take them back to Spain, but Columbus said if they didn’t reach land in two days, they will turn around.
