  2. Contents • 1. My experience • 2. International Tipping Etiquette • 3. Tipping by Geography

  3. My experience An Italian restaurant in Canada

  4. International Tipping Etiquette • Tipping is so solidly ground into the fabric of the economy and culture, it is unavoidable. • The type of restaurant, the service, and whether you have special requirements. • To the appropriate staff • Family restaurant lunch : 10% • Family restaurant dinner : 15% • Elegant restaurant lunch : 15% • Elegant restaurant dinner : 20%

  5. Tipping by Geography • Canada • Most service staff in Canada expect something in the 10-20% tip range, depending on what city, if its French or English Canada, and the level of service. • In Montreal- good meal , good restaurant , good service - tip more. • Do not tip - service is bad • Service is really bad - leave a nickel - they should get the message.

  6. China You'll never have to tip anywhere in China. It's the one consolation from the fact that foreigners are charged more as a matter of government policy. • France In France, in restaurants, though not at bars - service included in the price, by law. about 15% or so. • Australia non-existent • Japan Don't

  7. Germany Strange to Germans The people you expect to tip have a fixed price (50pfg) but tipping hairdressers and the like may seem akin to starting a revolution. • Italy No tip Feeling generous -leave some coins on the table as you leave. • United Kingdom Do not tip cash at the bar in a pub. If you are impressed with the barkeep's service - you can offer to buy them a drink.

  8. United States Restaurants -15-20% You may have the misfortune of going to a restaurant that automatically includes a 15% tip in the check, but for all those US males out there who pull out their little calculators every time they receive the bill, having the tip already indicated for them can save a lot of embarrassment. In most states of the US the tax - around 7-8%

  9. Thank you
