Personal • Be mindful in the use of electricity • Calculate your personal carbon foot print and see if it can be reduced • Be scrupulous in the maintenance of the auto you use (tire pressure, amount of driving, engine tune up) • Carefully discern air travel • Be mindful in the use of clothes dryer…when possible hang clothes • Pray for the preservation of the good Earth

Local Community/Families • Have an energy audit of local residence and follow up with suggested actions • Unplug electrical appliances as possible • Check and replace all light bulbs • Eliminate all toxic cleaning materials • Use recycled paper goods if it is not possible to eliminate their use • Include prayer for the preservation of the good Earth in local community prayer

  4. Congregational • Conduct energy audit of motherhouse and all congregationally owned property. • Review Congregational Automobile Policies. Consider purchasing hybrid vehicles. • Hold an educational event/ create educational opportunities relating to climate change for administrators and boards of directors of sponsored ministries, stressing that appropriate action steps be pursued on the local level of each ministry. • Request that prayer for the preservation of the good Earth be included in all congregational liturgies. • Review congregational portfolio in lieu of the suggestions and directions of ICCR and local corporate responsibility organizations. • Keep this issue in front of the congregation through the widest variety of strategies.

Geographical/Regional • Actively support and participate in local organizations seeking to mitigate the effects of global climate change. • Distribute information about local campaigns to appropriate local communities and invite their participation • Infuse information about the organizations mentioned and their efforts into local ministerial efforts

  6. National • Actively support and participate in national organizations seeking to mitigate the effects of global climate change.
