The Pacific War . War in Asia starts in 1937 when Japan attacks China. Pearl Harbour . December 1941- Japan launched numerous attacks, including one against a U.S. naval base in Hawaii ( Pearl Harbour ) and the British colony of Hong Kong, which was being defended by 2000 Canadians.

  1. The Pacific War • War in Asia starts in 1937 when Japan attacks China

  2. Pearl Harbour • December 1941- Japan launched numerous attacks, including one against a U.S. naval base in Hawaii (Pearl Harbour) and the British colony of Hong Kong, which was being defended by 2000 Canadians

  3. Japanese Warfare • Fighting for the Allies was much different than in Europe- much of the Pacific War was fought between navies, in jungles, and they had to deal with Japanese suicide attackers called Kamikazes who would crash their planes into Allied targets

  4. Japanese Warfare • Japan’s military was known for its brutal tactics- Japanese soldiers would sometimes rape the women and girls in places they conquered. Also, Japanese prisoner of war (POW) camps were known for there brutality

  5. Why would events in the Pacific make Canadians concerned? What Canadians in particular would be the most concerned?
