Ch 20: Politics and Expansion in an Industrializing Age (1877-1900) Big Themes this Chapter: • Laissez-Faire politics were favored by both major parties (Dems & Reps) • Unregulated rapid industrial growth came at a cost to society. • Who will suffer? • Unskilled Labor, Farmers, Minorities • The 1893-1897 Depression will start to force the federal government to address social issues. • Manifest Destiny continues.
