  1. QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS BIG IDEAS • Content: Any quadratic equation can be solved using the quadratic formula • Inquiry: Projectile motion can be modeled with a quadratic equation • Nature of Math: The Fundamental Theorem of Algebra determines the possible number of solutions to an equation

  2. Differentiated InstructionTo effectively differentiate instruction, use Sternberg’s triarchic approach and incorporate analytical, creative and practical activities into each lesson.

  3. Analytical: Students will derive the quadratic formula. • Creative: Students will use quadratic models to make predications about data. • Practical: Students will demonstrate with a graphing calculator how changing the parameters of an equation affects its graph.
