  1. The Necessity for Godly Women Gen 2:15-17, men are responsible to obey Gen 2:18, women help men obey Unfortunately, in today’s society, Men ….. not obeying God have lost their fear, dread, and awe of God Women are key in getting men and society back to believing and obeying God Jer 2:1-19 – focal passage

  2. Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, Jer 2:1 (NASB) Word to women: • Gen 2:18, (role, mandate, purpose) • 2 Tim 2:15 (learn the manual)

  3. 2 "Go and proclaim in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the Lord,"I remember concerning you the devotion of your youth, The love of your betrothals, Your following after Me in the wilderness, Through a land not sown. Jer 2:2 (NASB) Encourage men to remember: • a life devoted to God is the best! • how good God is!

  4. The way it used to be 3 Israel washoliness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that (try to) devour him (Israel) shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD. Jer 2:3 (KJV) How did it used to be? • Society lived in holiness • God protected them

  5. Things Changed 4Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel. 5 Thus says the Lord,"What injustice did your fathers find in Me, That they went far from Me And walked after emptiness and became empty? Jer 2:4-5 (NASB) 1/2 The Men: • Stopped following God • Stopped putting God first • Emptiness followed

  6. 6 "They did not say, 'Where is the Lord Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, Who led us through the wilderness, Through a land of deserts and of pits, Through a land of drought and of deep darkness, Through a land that no one crossed And where no man dwelt?‘ 7 "I brought you into the fruitful land To eat its fruit and its good things. But you came and defiled My land, And My inheritance you made an abomination. Jer 2:6-7 (NASB) 2/2 The men: • Stopped seeking God • Instead, lived in sin

  7. Because the Men stopped obeying God Society decayed 8 "The priests did not say, 'Where is the Lord?' And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by Baal And walked after things that did not profit. Jer 2:8 (NASB) • The Priests, the lawyers, the Rulers, and theProphets all stopped following and obeying God • Society sought after false gods.

  8. Case Against Judah 11 "Has a nation changed gods When they were not gods? But My people have changed their glory For that which does not profit. 12 "Be appalled, O heavens, at this, And shudder, be very desolate," declares the Lord. 13 "For My people have committed two evils: • They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, • To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water. Jer 2:11-13 (NASB)

  9. Consequences for disobeying God 14 "Is Israel a slave? Or is he a home born servant? Why has he become a prey? 15 "The young lions have roared at him, They have roared loudly. And they have made • His land a waste; • His cities have been destroyed, • without inhabitants. Jer 2:14-15 (NASB)

  10. Turning away from God – Bad idea! 17 "Have you not done this to yourself By your forsaking the Lord your God When He led you in the way? 18 "But now what are you doing on the road to Egypt, To drink the waters of the Nile ? Or what are you doing on the road to Assyria, To drink the waters of the Euphrates? Jer 2:17-18 (NASB) Judah’s problems were caused by: • Forsaking God • Men sought solutions elsewhere When God is not first – problems arise!

  11. The evil resulting from turning from God should point us back to God 19 "Your own wickedness will correct you, And your apostasies will reprove you; • Knowtherefore and see • That it is evil and bitter • For you to forsake the Lordyour God, Jer 2:19 (NASB) Women intuitively understand this!

  12. Root cause of turning from God? :19b, And the • dreadof Me (God) • is not (not) in you," declares the Lord God of hosts. Jer 2:19 (NASB) • Judah lost it’s fear, dread, and awe of God • Today- America no longer fears God
