  4. Logical, Loving Limits • Motive = total security for maximum freedom • God’s laws exist for our PROTECTION!!

  5. Why is Dating (the world’s way) from Hell? • Unscriptural • Rehearsal for divorce • Selfishly motivated • Emotional destruction • Irresponsible • Promotes lasciviousness • Breeds deception • Breeds isolation • Produces insecurity

  6. Hebrews 13:4 • 4Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

  7. Consequences of Sex Before Marriage • Lasciviousness = sin • Produces guilt • Sows deception • You become skeptical/critical of other Christians + gifts • Lose self-respect • Breeds mistrust • Produces insecurity • Vanity increases • Creates bondage • Destroys personality (soul) & creates confusion in spirit

Consequences of Sex Before Marriage • Increases fear b/c you have guilt (1 John 4:18-19) • Can’t walk in faith b/c of fear! • Diminishes communication • Lose power to concentrate • Produces rebellion towards authority • Marriage oneness defiled • Fellowship with God diminished • Idolatry • Defraud/defile = sin

  9. Maturity in Christ • Reasoning > Emotions • Truth in your spirit > natural drives (soul/body)

  10. If dating is from Hell, then what?? • Thank God for normal desires! • Physical attraction doesn’t mean it’s God’s will! • Give it to God • Get in light with spiritual authority • Consider alternative to dating (courtship)

  11. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 • Love is patient • Love is kind • It does not envy • It does not boast • It is not proud • It is not rude • It is not self-seeking • It is not easily angered • It keeps no record of wrongs • Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth • It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
