  2. Purpose of the Project Devise an East Midlands Integrated Practice Learning System (EMPILS) that will allow a central point of all information with secure and password protected areas for all stakeholders.

  3. Project Sponsor and Governance • NHS East Midlands are sponsors of this project. • The East Midlands Workforce Leads Partnership Group will provide governance for the project.

  4. Benefits Will bring together a number of disparate and limited systems into a a single database system throughout the East Midlands and will include placement records, educational audit, mentor records and much more.

  5. Benefits • Identify placement capacity and usage. • Enable equitable allocation of students/MPET funding to support practice learning. • Provide a web based central point of information. • Maximise the benefits of partnership working between all academic institutes and placement providers. • Provide an East Midlands wide consistent method to capture data to fulfil national and regional quality requirements e.g. Standards to Support Learning & Assessment in Practice (NMC August 2006). • Enhancement of on line facilities for students, mentors and other stakeholders to access organisation, placement and academic institute profiles.

  9. Risks and Challenges • Commitment from all placement providers and HEI’s will be key to the successful completion of the project. • Requirements of server to hold web space. • Lack of consensus over required areas of EMIPLS. • Ongoing costs to support server, licence and maintenance.
