  3. Selecting Network Configuration • Click on the Network Config Tab

  4. Network Configuration • Two ways to communicate with the access control network: • COM Port communication through a direct serial connection or through a modem • TCP/IP communication through a LAN-50, LAN-100, or LAN-500 module to an Ethernet network • Each requires different setup parameters • Use one method or the other, not both

  5. COM Port – Selection • Select the COM Port the PC will use for either direct connection or a modem connection • Typically COM 1 for newer computers, COM 2 for older computers

  6. COM Port – Modem Phone Numbers • Enter the PC modem phone number • Enter the access control network modem phone number

  7. COM Port – Modem Init String • Enter a Modem Init Stringonly if you have unique conditions that require changes to the default Modem Init String

  8. COM Port – Security PIN • For additional security, enter a PIN • The PIN prevents accidental overrides and hacking by preventing other software installations of Doors from accessing the site and the master controller

  9. Network Configuration - Save Changes • Click the button • If you close the configuration window without saving, the changes are lost and must be reentered

  10. TCP/IP – Selection • Select the TCP/IP option • TCP/IP configuration must be performed with the assistance of a system or network administrator

  11. TCP/IP – Ethernet Port Number • Enter the Server’s Ethernet Port Number • The default value is 10021, change this value ONLYif it conflicts with another device on the computer

  12. TCP/IP – Remote Site Address • Enter the Remote Site TCP/IP Address • This address must be in industry standard dot notation

  13. TCP/IP – Remote Site Port Number • Enter the Remote Site’s Ethernet Port Number • The default value is set to 3001, but may need to be changed to the value specified by the remote site’s Ethernet device • LAN-50 and LAN-500 = 10001 LAN-100 = 3001 (default) • LAN communication is explained in detail in its own presentation

  14. TCP/IP – Security PIN • For optional, additional security, enter a PIN • The PIN prevents accidental overrides and hacking by preventing other software installations of Doors from accessing the site and the master controller
