Phases of the Crew Project • Phase I (Diagnostic Phase): Assess implications of competition reforms in specific markets; identify benefits and causes of existing consumer & producer concerns – RESEARCH & CONSULTATIONS • Phase II (Design Phase): Design a composite methodology to quantify (actual & potential) benefits of competition reforms– DESIGN & CONSULTATIONS • Phase III (Validation Phase): Test the veracity of this methodology in micro-locations in project countries; and use results for advocacy – ADVOCACY & PUBLIC EDUCATION

  3. Diagnostic Phase(Phase I)

Activities • Launch meeting( NRG I Meeting) • the purpose of the meeting was to acquaint the relevant stakeholders with the project overview and methodology that would be adopted to carry the project forward. • Development Of Methodology • Identification Of Reforms • Background papers were done by the researchers, which identified the reforms that were critical to the sectors. • Three critical reforms were identified for both sectors. • Determining Sample size • Secondary Data Collection (Literature Review) • Involved both desk research and one to one interviews with key stakeholders. • Primary Data Collection • Perception survey and In Depth Interviews were carried out.

Activities Cont. • Development of Draft and Final DCR • Currently at this stage of the research. • Once the draft DCR is ready, it will be shared across with NRG members and any other relevant stakeholders to provide inputs, suggestions and recommendations. • Framework for Competition Reforms (FCR) • This the next activity after the final DCR and the beginning of Phase II. • The findings from the DCR from the four project countries, will feed into the FCR. • The FCR will be the basis for the development of the tool kit

  6. Activities Cont. • We take this opportunity to inform you that on Nov 18 – Nov 20, there will be an ‘International Conference’ under the CREW Project in Bangkok. The findings from the DCR would be presented there. • We thank all stakeholders who have given their inputs towards the primary work for the developing of DCR.
