  4. Human & Physical Features Did you know that the currency of Ivory Coast is the CFA Franc? To begin with, the life expectancy is 48.3 years. Aside from that, there are 12 doctors per 100,000 people. Also, the total square miles in area is 124,503. In Ivory Coast there are also 11 passenger cars per 1,000 people. And last, there is a population of 299,846,000 people. All in all, Ivory Coasts human and physical features are only a little bit below average.
  5. Flag Did you know that the design of the Ivory Coast was based on the French flag? By the way, Ivory Coasts flag was adopted on December 4, 1959. Also, orange is the color of the land, rich and generous, the meaning of our fight, the blood of young people fighting for emancipation. White is for peace, but with justice. Green stands for hope and certainty of a better future. In addition, protocol in the flag states that saluting the flag should occur regularly in schools, colleges, and during official ceremonies. In conclusion, the flag has many meanings for its country.
  6. Government The government type is a republic multiparty presidential regime. The capital of Ivory Coast is Yamoussoukro which is five hours ahead of Washington D.C. The legal system is a civil law system based on the French civil code. Their national anthem is called the L’Abidjanaise. Ivory Coast gained its independence on August 7, 1960.
  7. Religion Did you know that Islam and Christianity are the main religions in Ivory Coast? To begin with, they were both founded in Israel. Also they were started by two different people, for Islam, Muhammad, and for Christianity it is Jesus Christ. The adherents worldwide is 1.3 billion people for Islam and 2 billion for Christianity. Both religions have one god. Aside from that, they also have different holy books, Islam has the Qur’an and for Christians their holy book is the Bible. All in all, both Islam and Christianity are two very different religions.

  9. Animals, Plants, & Natural Resources Did you know that avocado trees grow in Ivory Coast? The avocado tree is self pollinating. Also, avocados are fruits, not vegetables. Aside from that, there are pineapple trees. Pineapples have serrated edged leaves on the top. By the way, Ivory Coast also has gold as one of their natural resources. Gold’s melting point is 1,947 degrees Fahrenheit. They also have a kind of snake called the White Bellied Worm Snake. The White Bellied Worm Snakes are usually found at 12 inches in length. There you have some interesting facts about Ivory Coast’s animals, plants and natural resources.
