Are there Local Government Official and Agencies in your Town? • Mayor: • Is a local government official and his office is located inside the Town City Hall. • job duties • Communications to legislative authority of finances and general conditions. • chief conservator of peace within the city • Supervision of conduct of officers. • He shall see that all ordinances, bylaws, and resolutions of the legislative authority are faithfully obeyed and enforced.

Local Government(con’t) • Policeman • His/her office is located in the city hall or at the police department. • Job duties • To protect the lives and the property of citizens. • Prevent crime, catch lawbreakers, and maintain order • In small towns the police officer may work as a detective who investigate crime. • Officer who are involved in criminal cases testify at court trails and hearings.

  4. Local government Official(con’t) • Fireman • Afirefighter office will be inside of a fire station. Some fireman or firewomen sleeps inside of the fire station for shift duties. • Job duties • Involves the protection of life and property by combating, extinguishing and preventing fires. • Involves training for and participating in fire fighting duties, providing emergency care for sick and injured persons and fire prevention activities on assigned shifts. • Other duties include routine maintenance of fire apparatus, as well as drilling and training in new fire fighting techniques and practices.

  5. Local Government Official and Agencies • Local government official are people that work in your community to keep your neighborhood clean from drugs, crime, and make sure that all laws or been obeyed by each individual who lives in the community or visiting the community. • The head local government official would be the Mayor, he will make sure that the funds of the community is used properly, and make sure that all of the local government official or doing their job correctly and that they are also obeying the law. • Local Government Agencies is the building or offices where an agency is located.
