  4. ENUM GRX Network (.gprs) CRX Network (.cdma.net) Cingular View of +1-813-451-4824 Alltel Cingular MMS Interworking Gateway Direct Carrier Link Verizon T-Mobile Private IP Space +1-813-451-4824 For Cingular to T-Mobile MMS messages the NAPTR record returned from the ENUM query could be: mailto:18134514824@mms.mnc160.mcc310.gprs Note: Example is illustrative only and does not imply any actual business relationships

  5. ENUM GRX Network (.gprs) CRX Network (.cdma.net) Alltel View of +1-813-451-4824 Alltel Cingular MMS Interworking Gateway Direct Carrier Link Verizon T-Mobile Private IP Space +1-813-451-4824 For Alltel to T-Mobile MMS message, the path would go through the MMS-IG the NAPTR record returned from the ENUM query could be: mailto:18134514824@mms-ig.cdma.net The MMS-IG would transcode the message and conduct a second ENUM dip to forward the transcoded message to mailto: 18134514824@mms.mnc160.mcc310.gprs Note: Example is illustrative only and does not imply any actual business relationships

  6. ENUM GRX Network (.gprs) CRX Network (.cdma.net) Verizon View of +1-813-451-4824 Alltel Cingular MMS Interworking Gateway Direct Carrier Link Verizon T-Mobile Private IP Space +1-813-451-4824 For Verizon to T-Mobile MMS message, the path would go through direct link the Verizon view of the NAPTR record might look like: mailto:18134514824@192.168.14.40 In this example, the T-Mobile MMSC would be responsible for the transcoding and the entry point could be a different MMSC versus the MMSC utilized for other GSM providers. Note: Example is illustrative only and does not imply any actual business relationships

  7. Summary • Operators may desire a different response from ENUM depending upon their transport and interworking relationships with other operators: • CRX • GRX • MMS Interworking hubs • Private/Direct IP connections • One goal of Operator-ENUM should be to provide the operators flexibility to define how they view other operators and the entry points to those networks.
