  3. Today’s Goals (CLF2102) • Recognize hazardous situations • Use a fire extinguisher properly • Practice all shop and equipment safety regulations • Develop a proper attitude toward work • Avoid unsafe practices • Acquire all proper shop safety knowledge necessary to produce a safe SAE project.

  4. Definitions • Safety: • Some object or procedure to prevent injury or damage. • Danger: • The possibility of suffering harm or injury • Combustible: • Able to ignite or catch fire • Hazardous: • Risky, dangerous • Extinguish: • To put out a fire or light; quench

  13. Fire Prevention • Store fuels in approved containers, preferably made of metal. • Store fuels away from flammable containers such as wood and paper. • Keep the shop environment well below combustion temperature. • Use fires only in areas that is designated safe to do so.
