  2. Introduction • Generalist practice model • Promoting Human and Social Well-being • Prevention and Intervention methods • Practicum as the foundation for transitioning from student to professional • Roles played by the practicum team

  3. Who’s Who in Practicum? • Field Practicum Supervisor: YOU. The supervisor from the practicum agency who oversees the students work at the agency. Responsible for ongoing observations of student performance with clients, staff interactions, and paperwork. • Practicum Student: The USU student whom you supervise • Faculty Liason: The faculty member from Utah State University who works with the student intern. Responsible to monitor student progress through field seminar, individual faculty conferences, reviewing evaluations, and in the context of field site visits or other contacts

  4. Expectations of Field Supervisor/Agency • Provisions from supervisors • Opportunities for student development/ social work interventions • Develop competencies and social work experiences • Agency policies and procedures, particularly around privacy (FERPA, HIPPA) • Agency culture, dress, expectations • Provide supervision • Faculty liaison may provide or coordinate tandem supervision

  5. Expectations of students • Arrange an appropriate schedule • Professionalism • Complete all assignments • Supervision/ Learning Contract Development • Eager involvement in agency practices • Maintain confidentiality

  6. Expectations of Faculty Liaison • Manages academic policies and procedures • Maintains communication with agency • Facilitate integration of learning
