Reports Produced by FHWA • Weekly report on projects with notice to proceed • Weekly report on obligated projects • Monthly report on jobs • Quarterly NEPA report to President’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) – 1609 • Quarterly report for States – 1512 • Quarterly performance reports • Periodic reports to Congress – 1201(c) • Periodic reports to GAO • Miscellaneous – EDA, DBE, “Green Projects”, SBA etc

Reporting Challenges • Implementation • Tight schedule • Changing requirements • Non-sequential development • Data quality and consistency • Approach has changed • Initially Excel forms submitted via e-mail to FHWA • Evolved into web based application • Second generation currently being developed

New Reporting Requirements Added additional OMB required data Reorganized to minimize redundant data Monthly data down to 10 data items (5 are reference data i.e. State, month, project numbers etc) Comma delimited format, no Excel option New screens in RADS will allow for mass editing, similar to Excel or Access 5

RADS - Recovery Act Data System • Used for ARRA related: • Data submittal • Reports • Analysis • Reviews • Independent system that interfaces with other data systems • Developed as a secure web application with a robust SQL Server database • Integrated GIS interface for spatial analysis and mapping
