  3. Longsuffering & Repentance • II Peter 3:9 – • “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Days of Noah • Genesis 6:5-15 – • (5) “wickedness of man was great in the earth” • (6) “the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart” • (7) “So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth” • (8) “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord”

  6. Days of Noah • I Peter 3:20 – • “when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water”

It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger”

Paul • I Timothy 1:12-16 – • (13) “I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man” • (15) “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” • (16) “However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life”

Paul • Acts 26:9-11 – • (9) “I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth” • (10) “many of the saints I shut up in prison…, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them” • (11) “I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.”

  19. Conclusion • II Peter 3:9-11 – • (9) “but is longsuffering toward us, not willing any should perish but that all should come to repentance” • (10) “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night” • (11) “what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness”

  20. Conclusion • What a great God that we serve. • A God that is longsuffering, desiring that we be saved. • Yet, we must be willing to repent. • Changing our lives to reflect Christ • STOP sinning & START living for God
