  1. Expand Your Horizon

  2. Mike Murdock said: • The atmosphere you permit determines the product you produce. • When God wants to bless you, He puts a person in your life. When Satan wants to destroy you, he puts a person in your life.

  3. Definition of terms: • Expand: This means to make something wider or bigger. • Horizon: It is simply the limit of someone’s experience or understanding.

  4. Text: Isaiah 42: 8 - 9 (AV) • 8. I am the Lord; that is My name! And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images. 9. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

  5. Promises from the Bible: • Gen. 1: 28 “And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth (replenish), and subdue it (using all the its vast resources in the service of God and man); and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.” • Your ability to operate at the 5 dimensions highlighted in Gen. 1:28 depends on how far you can see (the limit of your horizon.)

  6. How do you expand your horizon in 2011? • Recognise that you don’t have everything and so you need to build on your strength. (Do not concentrate too much on your weaknesses). • God will use you based on needs and not your qualification so take what you are doing (or have) to a new dimension or a new level. • Recognise that your dimension may not be needed until you add depth to it. (Explain.)

  7. Examples: • David took shepherding from that of sheep to leading the Israelites as a king. (Nothing has changed except that he is now operating at a higher level). • Peter took fishing from that of catching fishes to catching men. (God’s assignment for you is the same but could be done at higher levels). • Joseph took leadership to a higher dimension from supervisor in prison to PM in the palace.

  8. If you want to change your life in 2011, then change your thoughts and widen the extent to which you see God’s blessings. • Bring new ideas into your life – apply the prodigal son’s experience (return to yourself). Pause for awhile and think of the next move. • Don’t let tradition hold you down. Think positively. (RCCG of 1981 is different from RCCG of 2011, even in the songs we sing.)

  9. Evaluate the kinds of report you hear in 2011. Is it the one from 10 people who think they are grasshoppers or from just 2 who believe they are giants (they can do it)? Those who believe in the 10 died along the way but those who believe in the 2 got to the promised land. • Your life cannot just move by wishing but by applying the relevant forces – First, the Holy Spirit and others will follow. • Launch into the deep and take the risk this year. Maximise your opportunity. Increase your capacity.

  10. The church and the society. • The church is not attracting the people in the society anymore. The few that come in tend to influence the church in their own way, making the church a subject to the world. • The church needs to expand its horizon. Matt.5: 13-14 says “You are the salt of the earth....you are the light of the world.” • Salt is used for preservation. Therefore, we are to preserve the world because the world is heading for destruction.

  11. Be ready to hear the truth in 2011. • Societal laws are meant for those in the world but you are to operate in a different kingdom placed above such laws. (Explain.) Choose the word over the world. • The church is also poor because we only cover 50% (praying, fasting, casting out demon). After all these, what next? This is where pastors differ in opinions. (Explain.)

  12. Some recommendations: • Know who you are – there is a king in you. How do kings operate? They rule by making decrees. Job 22:28 “You shall decree a thing..” • Think positively throughout this year and work towards that thing you think about. Prov. 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he...” • Guard your faith – Satan does not care if you go to church but his main commission is to poison the mind of the believer by planting doubt, unbelief and “religion” unto his heart.

  13. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The corollary therefore is fear cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of Satan. • Recognise oppositions/difficulty along your way as part of your ordained journey. (It is a matter of time.) Note that every progress attracts opposition or envy. You are too loaded to be panicking. You are a lion and an eagle. • Do not be satisfied with the present. It is a sign of mediocrity if you do. Deut. 1:6 “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, you have dwelt long enough on this mountain.” – Move on.

  14. Plan to change your career, if necessary. Add new things to your business. • Find your calling and fulfil it.What you don’t have naturally, God will give you supernaturally if He needs it through you. • Do not glorify Satan in your confessions this year.
