Registering your placement on MAP. Login to MAP with your Aston Username and password. https://map.aston.ac.uk/urd/sits.urd/run/siw_lgn. Go to the placements page in MAP. “My Placement Details”. Scroll down to “My Placement Details” Click on “Create/ View Placements”.

  2. Login to MAP with your Aston Username and password https://map.aston.ac.uk/urd/sits.urd/run/siw_lgn

  3. Go to the placements page in MAP

  4. “My Placement Details” • Scroll down to “My Placement Details” • Click on “Create/ View Placements”

  5. Prepare the information you need to provide • You will be required to enter the following details: • The full name of your placement organisation and postal address. • The name, address and email of the main contact person at your placement (your supervisor at work or the HR contact). • Your placement job title and type of role • Exact start and end dates of the placement • You will also have to upload electronic copies of the following documents depending on your placement type: • For Work Placements: • A job description. • A signed contract or a detailed signed offer letter from the placement provider. • For Study Placements: • The offer letter emailed by the placements office. • The study placement advert as posted on Aston Futures.

  6. Create/ View Placement records • You now have the following options: • Create a new placement by clicking on “Create a new Placement” • Amend or delete a placement (if applicable) by selecting the link next to the appropriate placement. • View the placement details by selecting View next to the appropriate placement. • Any placements you add must be approved by the Placement Office. Each placement record has a status which defines at which stage your placement record is in the approval process. For more information on the statuses click “View Statuses”.

  7. Create a new placement record • Click on “Create a New Placement” • You can now enter the information for your organisation by clicking on “Add Organisational Details”

Adding your Organisation and Contact • When clicking on “Add Organisational Details” you can search for your organisation to see if it is already on the system. • If it is choose it from the list and continue. • If it is not please select “No”: • You can now enter the details for your placement provider • In the next step you will be able to enter the contact details of your company contact in the same way. • You will also be asked where your placement contact is mainly based – in the UK or overseas. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ENTER THE LOCATION OF YOUR PLACEMENT AT THIS STAGE!

  9. Adding your Placement Details

  10. Upload your placement documentation • Choose the document type you want to upload and upload your two mandatory documents by browsing your computer. • Once you have chosen your documents click “next”. • Your placement record is now ready to submit.

  11. What happens next? • You will be informed via your Aston email account and through your MAP Placement Messages if your placement has been Approved or Not Approved. Where a definite decision cannot be made, because of incomplete information for example, the status of your placement will be set to Pending Decision. If your placement is not approved or pending a decision, you will be given the reasons why this decision was made and what to do next.
