Redeeming Marriage: Navigating Conflict and Seeking God's Kingdom

This discussion delves into the realities of marriage, addressing how sin leads to conflict and the importance of desiring God's purposes over our own. Reflecting on James 4:1-2, we explore the inner desires that cause quarrels among us, challenging participants to consider how Christ's love compels us to live not for ourselves, but for Him. Engaging in meaningful dialogue, we aim to understand how aligning our desires with God's kingdom can transform our marital relationships and foster harmony.

  1. What Did You Expect? Redeeming the Realities of Marriage

  2. Discussion Question #1 How does sin lead to conflict within marriage?

  3. Discussion Question #2 What would it look and sound like if we desired the purposes of God’s kingdom rather than our own?

  4. James 4:1-2 1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

  5. 2 Cor 5:14-15 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
