  3. The parable of The Lost Son1. the situation Vs. 11-12 • The Setting of the Parable (Context) • The parables of finding that which was lost; the sheep and the coin. Show the joy in heaven when a sinner repents and returns. • The Family Problem • The father split his estate between the two sons at the younger son’s request.

  4. The parable of The Lost Son2. The younger son vs 13-19 • 2. Requested his inheritance (half) • Squandered it on prostitutes • A famine struck and he was destitute • He returned home, begging for help

  5. The Parable of the lost son3 The Father vs 20-24 • 3. The Father Vs. 20-24 • The father was overjoyed at his return • He kissed him and threw his son a party and rejoiced • (He probably ordered him a bath also)

  6. The Parable of the lost son4 The elder son vs 25-32 • 4. The Angry Son Vs. 25-32 • The elder son was resentful. • The father gently reproved his elder son for not respecting his father's joy at having his lost son returned alive.
