  1. ¼ cent Sales Tax Referendum Quick Facts • ¼ cent sales tax generates approximately $460,000 for Bladen County Citizen education paid for by Bladen County Local Government. For more information, 862-6700 or bladeninfo.org.

  2. ►1 cent on the property tax rate generates approximately $250,000.►If voters approve the ¼ cent sales tax the property tax rate will drop by 2 cents from .82 to .80 per $100 valuation.

  3. Q: How much more would the ¼% sales tax cost me in purchases? Taxable Goods x ¼% = Tax Impact $100 Purchase x 0.0025 = 0.25 cents $300 Purchase x 0.0025 = 0.75 cents $500 Purchase x 0.0025 = $1.25

  6. Tourists and visitors from other counties and states will generate revenue for critical Bladen County services. • In 2013, Bladen County ranked 67 out of 100 North Carolina counties in tourism impact.

  7. In 2013 $36.42 Million in tourism dollars passed through Bladen County. An additional ¼ cent sales tax on that amount could have resulted in approximately $91,000 being added to the Bladen County budget to help pay for critical Bladen County services.

  8. Q: What will this proposal look like on the ballot? Bladen County Sales and Use Tax Local sales and use tax at the rate of one-quarter percent (0.25%) in addition to all other State and local sales and use taxes.
