  1. BAR demo Charaka Palansuriya EPCC

  2. Content • Scope of the demo • March BAR demo • Scope • Participating sites • Complete Prototype demo • Scope • Participating sites • Formal BAR deliverables EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  3. Scope • Scope: • The scope of the demonstration is to show how a simple BAR service may be used within EGEE network resources and their modes of operation. • Two scenarios: • Scenario1: to show use of a BAR service to request reservation of a Bulk Transfer service from one end-site to another end-site. • Scenario2: to show use of a BAR service to request reservation of a Virtual Leased Line service from one end-site to another end-site. EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  4. Not Covered • The demo does not address the “last mile” problem. • Any configuration should avoid the local network. • E.g., a demonstration machine that runs a BAR service should directly connect to a NREN that runs a NSAP service (is this possible ?). EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  5. BAR demo for March • Scope of BAR demo for March 2005 • A basic BAR • Implement a Bulk Transfer request • RequestService • Missing requests – CancelService, QueryService, ModifyService, Notification • A basic NSAP web service • Implement the following request for a suitable network service class (e.g., Assured Capasity) : • RequestNetworkService • A command line client to demonstrate the BAR service EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  6. BAR demo for March • Participating sites • EPCC • Hosts a BAR service • Responsible for • Development of the BAR, its client and testing them. • Deploy/config of the BAR service on a suitable server. • DANTE • Hosts a NSAP service • Responsible for • Developing the NSAP service and testing it • Deploy/config of the NSAP service on a suitable server EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  7. Complete BAR prototype demo • Scope of complete BAR prototype • Complete Bulk Transfer and Virtual Leased Line functionality in the BAR web service • Include all requests • Complete Bulk Transfer and Virtual Leased Line functionality in the NSAP web service • Include all requests • A basic graphical (GUI) BAR client • Select a request based on a Service Class • Specify parameters • Submit request • Display response • Includes security • Any thing else ? EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  8. Complete BAR prototype • Participating sites and their role • CERN • An end site; hosts a BAR service (and probably its client) • DANTE • The backbone; hosts a NSAP service • GARR • A NREN, hosts a NSAP service • CNAF • The other end site; hosts a BAR service • More detail to be discussed under “deployment” • When ? • May 2005 EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005

  9. deliverables • Formal BAR deliverables • What are the up coming formal deliverables ? • When are they due ? • Expectations from JRA4 • Expectations from EGEE/Reviewers EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005
