  1. Bell Ringer – 20 August 2012 • You may sit at any desk you’d like. There are no assigned seats today. • Get out a sheet of paper or take one from the front table. • Fold the paper like a hamburger. • Fold the paper like a hamburger again. • Open the paper and title the paper “Room 2-203, Civics, and (your name)” Please write your first and last name where it says (your name).

  2. Welcome to civics! Civics is the study of local, state, national, and international governments with a focus on your role in participating, shaping, and changing them. P.S. We will also be learning about economics (the study of incentives).

  3. Your paper now has eight ‘boxes’ with four on the front and four on the back. When you see an underlined word, please write that in an empty box. Next, write a summary for that word in the box. For example ----->

  4. Room 2-203’s Guiding Philosophy “I don’t know”is neveran acceptable answer because I will not ask you a question without giving you the answer first. I may give you the answer on the board. I may give you the answer on your desk. I may give you the answer on your paper. I may give the answer to someone in your group.
