Understand implementation of the flagship projects like - Project Arrow, Mail networking optimisation, India Post 2012 Implement and execute Governments initiatives under social welfare schemes. Deliver projects of the Govt. such as CPI, UAID, RGI. Unit 1.1

  3. Understand the role of the Postmaster as Operational manager. • Plan and anticipate challenges in taking charge as a manager. • Develop self development skills of Professional Etiquettes, stress management, interpersonal relations Unit 1.1

  4. Trainer to use any one of the Ice Breaking activities to TRIGGER the session. ICE BREAK Unit 1.1

Assignments for the Week • Prepare a chart of duties and responsibilities of the postmaster as defined in various manuals. • Prepare a list of such duties that are relevant in the changed scenario. • Form teams of 5 each, assign a suitable title for your team and select a team leader. • Presentation of paper by trainees on attributes of Successful Manager • Prepare a Model of successful manager Unit 1.1

  6. Prepare a chart on the role and responsibility of a postmaster to be submitted on day 2. • Come up with Manager’s TOOL-KIT Unit 1.1

  7. Need for creation of new cadre To challenge private operators which are managed by professionals– to compete on even terms. To overcome barriers of posting people only on seniority criteria irrespective of capabilities To meet the need to improve and upgrade functioning of PO Meet present day need of specialisation in postal office management Respond to the introduction of technology, challenges from market, increase productivity– needs professional manager . To ensure that professionally qualified, trained and meritorious people head the post office PPT 1.2.1 Unit 1.1

  10. Group Discussion • Trainees in groups will discuss on the creation of the cadre and the challenges awaiting them. Unit 1.1

  15. Presentation by participants • Trainees in groups will present the gap between the expectations of department and where do they stand and how they work towards filling the gap • Each team has 4 minutes and 10 minutes for preparation Unit 1.1
